IEEE ComSoc Student Ambassador Program 2025

Seeking ComSoc’s Students Seeking Leadership

The IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc) proudly presents the IEEE ComSoc Ambassadors Program 2025, empowering passionate students and young professionals to lead the future of communications technology. This program identifies ComSoc’s top students who want to cultivate innovation, leadership, and global collaboration through exciting opportunities sharing the value of the ComSoc community.

ComSoc Student Ambassadors are afforded the opportunity to:

  1. Lead Innovative Initiatives – Plan and host impactful events, workshops, and campaigns.
  2. Collaborate Globally – Work with IEEE ComSoc Student Branch, and Young Professionals (YP).
  3. Promote IEEE ComSoc – Amplify ComSoc initiatives via social media and digital platforms.
  4. Foster Community Engagement – Mentor peers, bridge academia and industry, and inspire the next generation of ComSoc members.
  5. Submit Reports & Updates about the Success of Your Outreach – Regularly document progress and highlight key achievements.

All selected ComSoc Student Ambassadors must be ComSoc members when applying for the program and through the membership year where they serve as an ambassador.

Program Timeline

Phase 1: Application & Selection

  • Call for application submissions, evaluations, and final selection.
  • Timeline: March-May 2025
    • Application Period: 15 March 25 - 30 April 2025
    • Application Review & Evaluation: 1-10 May 2025
    • Selection Announcement: 25 May 2025

Phase 2: Onboarding & Training

  • Key Tasks: Orientation webinar, goal-setting, mentor assignment.
  • Timeline: 15-30 May 2025
    • Onboarding Webinar: 20-30 May 2025
    • Goal-Setting & Mentor Assignment: 20-30 May 2025

Phase 3: Execution & Engagement

  • Key Tasks: Ambassadors organize events, projects, and outreach initiatives.
  • Timeline: June-November 2025
    • Mid-Year Progress Report: September 2025

Phase 4: Recognition & Graduation

  • Key Tasks: Final evaluations, awards, and program wrap-up.
  • Timeline: November-December 2025
    • Final Evaluation & Impact Report: October 2025
    • Certificates, Awards, and Closing Ceremony: December 2025

Rules & Regulations

To ensure a productive and professional environment, all Ambassadors must adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Professional Conduct: Represent IEEE ComSoc with integrity, professionalism, and respect in all engagements.
  • Attendance & Participation: Attendance is mandatory for all onboarding sessions, training webinars, and progress reviews.
  • Communication & Reporting: Ambassadors must maintain clear and consistent communication with mentors and program coordinators.
  • Ethics & Compliance: Academic dishonesty, plagiarism, or misuse of IEEE ComSoc platforms is strictly prohibited.

Evaluation Criteria & Scoring System

Applicants and ambassadors will be evaluated on the following categories:

  • Leadership & Initiative (25%)
    Focus on event leadership, team management, and innovation in past projects.
  • Communication & Outreach Skills (20%)
    Focus on public speaking, workshop facilitation, content creation, and outreach strategies.
  • Technical & Innovation Mindset (20%)
    Passion for emerging technologies, technical projects, and IEEE involvement.
  • Community Engagement & Collaboration (15%)
    Focus on mentoring, IEEE Chapter collaborations, and community networking events.
  • Vision & Motivation (10%)
    Focus on clear goals, alignment with ComSoc mission, and future aspirations.
  • Digital & Social Media Engagement (10%)
    Focus on social media campaigns, storytelling skills, and creativity in digital outreach.

Ongoing Evaluation & Performance Monitoring

Ambassadors will be assessed on:

  • Milestone Reports
    • Mid-Year Progress Report (September 2025)
    • Final Impact Report (November 2025)
  • Key Evaluation Metrics
    • Quality and scale of events, projects, and campaigns.
    • Engagement with IEEE Sections, Student Branches, and YP networks.
    • Creativity and reach of digital content and social media initiatives.
    • Leadership demonstrated through team coordination and innovative approaches.

Recognition & Awards

Outstanding ambassadors will be honored with:

  • Certificate of Recognition for all successful program graduates.
  • IEEE ComSoc Ambassador Excellence Award for top performers who exceed expectations.
  • Opportunities for leadership positions within IEEE ComSoc global initiatives.
  • Scholarships & Travel Grants to attend prestigious IEEE ComSoc conferences.
    • Ambassadors may receive travel grants of up to US$1,500 to attend the prestigious IEEE ComSoc Conference: Globecom 2025. The final grant amount will be determined based on eligibility, application review, and available funding.
