Thomas Willis
For leading-edge and significant research, innovations, development, and industry achievements in electromagnetic and radio engineering aspects of telecommunications systems, with unparalleled accomplishments in patents, publications, presentations, and standards
Thomas M. Willis graduated with a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan Radiation Laboratory in 1987 specializing in electro-magnetic theory. After graduation, he joined AT&T Bell Laboratories in Holmdel, NJ and has worked in wireless communications for AT&T Bell Labs/AT&T Labs for the last 37 years. There he has worked in the areas of mobility and fixed service microwave radio and free space optics. In addition to various volunteer roles in the IEEE he has held positions in the National Spectrum Management Association, Fixed Wireless Communications Coalition, Wireless Innovation Forum, and was a contributing member of Standard 10 in the TIA.
