Position Statement
IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc) is a global professional organization dedicated to advancing cutting-edge technologies and practical applications through high-quality publications, premier conferences, technical standards, and educational initiatives. If elected, I am committed to serving the ComSoc community with dedication and passion by:
- Maintaining ComSoc’s Leadership in Technology and Innovation: I will champion research and development in key areas such as 5G/6G, AI-driven communications, quantum networking, and cybersecurity, ensuring that ComSoc remains at the forefront of technological advancements.
- Enhancing Technical Education for All Members: By expanding access to high-quality educational resources—including webinars, tutorials, certification programs, and conferences—I aim to equip our members with the knowledge and skills necessary to thrive in the rapidly evolving communications field.
- Bridging Academia and Industry for Research Transformation: I will foster stronger collaborations between academic researchers and industry leaders, facilitating the transition of groundbreaking research into real-world applications that drive technological progress and innovation.

Biography
Shui Yu is a Professor and the Deputy Chair of the University Research Committee at the University of Technology Sydney, Australia. He is deeply committed to research, research education, and advancing research transformation. With an h-index of 81 and over 27,000 citations, his work has made a significant impact in academia and industry. His research contributions have been widely integrated into industrial systems, e.g., Amazon cloud security. Since 2012, he has pioneered and actively promoted the field of networking for big data.
Professor Yu has been a dedicated volunteer with IEEE ComSoc for many years, serving in various leadership and technical positions. His roles have included contributions to technical committees, the educational services board, membership committees, flagship conference organizing committees, prestigious editorial boards, and distinguished lecturer programs. Currently, he is an elected member of the IEEE ComSoc Board of Governors (2023–2025). He is also a Fellow of IEEE.
