2025 Member-at-Large - Latin America/North America Region Candidate

Position Statement

I have served as a tireless volunteer in IEEE ComSoc for 20 years, contributing concretely to conferences, publications and technical activities. If elected, I would be honoured to serve ComSoc Members of all the world with my extensive experience. I commit to:

  • guarantee the high quality of ComSoc conferences and publications and make them accessible to a broader public;
  • foster ComSoc’s leadership and strengthen cooperation in interdisciplinary fields;
  • broaden and strengthen synergy between Industry and Academia, promoting industry participation in conferences, publications, and committees;
  • promote our open culture that welcomes and engages all ComSoc members, regardless gender, geographic region, seniority, and ethnicity;
  • work for an effective globalization of our Society, against barriers that may hinder participation of members from all Regions;
  • support student members and young professionals by promoting mentoring and training programs, tutorial webinars, and other affordable professional development and educational opportunities.

Biography 

Jiang (Linda) Xie is an IEEE Fellow and a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, USA. Her research interests include wireless networking and mobile computing.

She served on the Editorial Boards of many ComSoc Journals. including IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, IEEE Transactions on Networking, and IEEE Communications Surveys & Tutorials. She has broad experience of technical leadership positions in ICC/GLOBECOM and INFOCOM Conferences, as a Technical Program Co-Chair/Vice-Chair, Area Chair, and Symposium Co-Chair. 

Currently, she is on the ComSoc Board of Governors as the Director for Conference Development (2024-2025). She actively contributed to the technical management of ComSoc flagship conferences ICC/GLOBECOM, serving on the GLOBECOM/ICC Technical Content (GITC) Committee for 6 years as a Voting Member, Vice-Chair, and Chair. She also won the prestigious US National Science Foundation CAREER Award in 2010 and a few Best Paper Awards in IEEE Conferences.
