Wei Gao

Wei Gao is a principal Engineer in the Wireless Communications and Connectivity (WCC) division at Broadcom in San Jose, USA. He received a Master of Science degree in electrical engineering from the Chinese Academy of Space Technology, Beijing, China, and a Ph.D. in electrical and computer engineering from the University of California, Davis, USA, 2001. He has over 30 years of experience in both industry and academia in China and the USA, specializing in product development and research in satellite communications, wireless Wi-Fi and mobile communications, as well as signal processing. From 2001 to 2004, he worked as a development engineer in Microwave Communication Division at Harris Semiconductor, and later he worked in other semiconductor companies. Since 2011, he has been in the WCC division at Broadcom in San Jose. From 2019 to 2023, he also held as a Guest Professor at Northwest University in Xi’an, China, where he taught, conducted research, and supervised graduate students. His research interests include wireless communications and signal processing, with a focus on RF mobile and Wi-Fi system architectures, as well as adaptive algorithms for RF analog and digital predistortion techniques aimed at energy- and spectrum-efficient wireless transmission. 

He served as Section Chair for multiple IEEE International Conferences organized by the Communications Society, including ICC 2018 and PIMRC 2020. Additionally, he served as a paper reviewer for several conferences, including GLOBECOM 2024 and the 6th International Conference on Communication Engineering Technology (ICCET 2023).
