In July, the Villa del Grumello in Como, Italy was host to a five-day event with lectures and networking opportunities for 18 IEEE ComSoc student members.

The event, titled “Complex Networks and Telecommunications: Towards 6G,” included 11 informative lectures. Talks by top experts like AI applications in Telecommunications with speaker Jakob Hoydis and Stacked Intelligent Metasurfaces Communication, Computing and Sensing in the Wave Domain with speaker Marco Di Renzo provided students with opportunities to learn the latest in these areas

When not in lecture, students had the opportunity to network and get to know each other, with social hours and a dinner., Some students even chose to present their works to the group and organizers. Students were also offered the option to take an exam at the conclusion of the event should they need it for doctoral school credit recognition.

Student Feedback Very Positive!

After the event, student surveys showed a very positive experience for the attendees! 

100% responded with the 2 highest ratings regarding how the event met their expectations.

“The quality of the lectures and the speakers, the diversity of the topics and the economical and law lectures, it's very insightful and inspiring,” said participant Abdallaoui, a PhD Candidate.

Student responders enjoyed lectures, with 91% of students responding with the 2 highest ratings indicating that “the overall quality of the lectures” were really very interesting and well organized.

In all, students were very satisfied with the event! 100% of students responded with the 2 highest ratings indicating their overall satisfaction with the event was high.
