IEEE ComSoc is thrilled to share news of another successful ComSoc School Series Event! From 17-21 March, 2025, The Universidad de Antioquia in Medellín, Colombia hosted the event, with the theme of Internet of the Future.

With 30 students in attendance, event volunteers and speakers provided lectures in both English and Spanish,

3 hands-on sessions/tutorials, and a panel discussion, with topics like Networking in Next Generation Networks and Future Internet  and AI Security in Future Internet. The hands-on tutorials following the lectures provided a deeper dive into the topics, allowing the students to apply what they’ve learned.. The panel, held at the end of the week, explored How to build a career in Communications, industry and academia, providing a wonderful opportunity for students to get real-world advice from practicing professionals.

The event offered chances for students to explore the local area as well, with field trips that created social and networking opportunities.

Very Positive Student Feedback!

Student feedback in the post-event evaluation form was very positive, with 80% of the student attendees responding! 100% of students shared that their interest in the topics presented were “Very or Extremely interesting and relevant to me.” 100% of student respondents gave the highest ratings levels in their overall satisfaction with the event and the overall quality of the lectures.

“The speakers and instructors were highly skilled and knowledgeable, delivering valuable talks you don't usually see in traditional classrooms,” says student participant Jhonatan Moreno. “It was very inspiring to study these technologies.”

Students found value in the lectures and hands-on experiences, but also highlighted their appreciation for their peers. “What truly surprised me, though, was the cultural exchange,” says participant Miguel Collado. “Meeting people from different countries and regions, and hearing their perspectives on the conference themes, was invaluable. It opened doors to potential research collaborations, which excites me greatly!”

IEEE ComSoc would like to thank all the student participants, volunteers, speakers, and organizers that made this event possible.
