2025 Member-at-Large - Asia and Pacific Region Candidate

Position Statement

As MemberAtLarge, I would:

  1. Elevate ComSoc's visibility through my volunteer leadership, and highlight the added values of all participating parties  –via WICE and WIE, TENCON, IEEE-SA, BoD-Collaboration & Engagement, TryEngineering in STEM, AsiaPacific Region 10, Hong Kong Section, and many more speakerships and initiatives.
  2. Advocate “One IEEE” and build relationships across OUs, TAB Societies and Affinities – Motivating collaborative solutions for win-win accomplishments.
  3. Grow and elevate Student Membership and Young Professionals - offering internships, mentoring programs for career development and professional aspirations.
  4. Maintain full alert in notable Game-changers in innovation technology that drive progress -  showcasing impactful achievements in such transformation, eg AI applications in next generations communications networks and systems.
  5. Outreach and communicate ComSoc plan and progress to satisfy community needs - truly facilitating membership recruitment, engagement, elevation and retention with sustainable financial growth.
  6. Approach like-minded external professional bodies to explore feasible alliances.

Biography

Paulina is PhD and DIC in EEE at Imperial College London, and MBA at the UoLon; Senior Member of IEEE, Chartered Manager (CMgr) and Chartered Companion (CCMI) of the Royal Chartered Management Institute (CMI), UK.   

Experienced in communications industry, Paulina is : 

Founder/Pricipal of an interdisciplinary think-tank in tech-biz collaboration & innovation; has been senior management of AT&T/Lucent Technologies, Exxon/Mobil Corporation, and ICO Global Communications.  Paulina has grown an extensive network in Asia Pacific region and beyond.

Paulina is an engaging volunteer of ComSoc. She pioneered the Student Branch at her almamater; subsequently being the Vice-chair of WICE, Industry Liaison & Humanitarian Activities, Mentor in STEM & Young Professionals, Organisor /ProgramChair of ICC/ GlobeCom/WCNC/WIEILC.  Paulina is also chair of BoD Collaboration & Engagement, the EAB AI-for-Humanity, and the IEEE Foundation Hong Kong Fund.

Paulina is proud recipient of the Diversity & Inclusion Award (2023) and the Leadership Award (2021).
