IEEE ComSoc Best Readings invites applications/nominations for the position of Editor-in-Chief for a two–year term starting on 1 June 2026. The term is renewable for up to two additional years.
IEEE ComSoc Best Readings publishes a series of themed lists of curated articles, books, tutorials, and standards on various advanced topics within the scope of ComSoc. Each Best Readings list is created by a committee to provide researchers and practitioners with a comprehensive view of high-impact materials on a specific, rapidly evolving subject area. Each Best Readings list focuses on a particular, cutting-edge topic within communications. These collections include high-impact research papers, journal and conference articles, books, tutorials, and relevant standards. Committees of experts select these materials to provide a comprehensive and up-to-date overview of the chosen subject.
Eligibility and Qualification
The nominee must be a member in good standing of IEEE ComSoc. The nominee must have extensive IEEE editorial experience. Desirable qualities include excellence in technical accomplishments, leadership, integrity and ethical standards, organizational and management skills, as well as a strong vision and set of ideas for moving the Best Readings forward. Nominees will be considered for this position without attention to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability status, or political affiliation.
The duties include, among others, the interaction with committees of experts for each Best Readings, initiating and monitoring the selection process of the best reading lists to its completion, identifying candidates for contributions and candidates topics to enrich the lists, as well as monitor the revision and upgrade of published lists. Other duties include management and development, ensuring that the lists follow the IEEE Policy and Procedures, preparing a report for the IEEE Periodicals Review and Advisory Committee if requested, as well as maintaining the intellectual integrity, technical rigor, and timely operation of the Best Readings.
The Editor-in-Chief will report to the IEEE ComSoc Director of Journals and Vice-President Publications. The Editor-in-Chief is expected to participate in IEEE ComSoc Journals Board meetings during the IEEE ComSoc Publications Council meetings at IEEE ICC and IEEE GLOBECOM.
Selection Process
The selection committee will carefully evaluate all nominees and select the best suitable candidate. The appointment of the final candidate as the EiC will be approved by the IEEE ComSoc President.
Application
Applications/Nominations must include:
- Names of nominee and nominator (self-nominations are possible)
- A brief biography of the nominee of no more than one page
- A summary statement of the nominee’s editorial experience, also including name(s) and contact information of Editors-in-Chief who have worked with the nominee
- Statement of interest of up to 500 words stating the nominee’s vision for the Best Readings and special qualifications for the position
- The nominee’s full CV
The elements of the nomination package should be combined as a single pdf file with the nominee’s CV appended at the end and clearly indicating the name of the nominee.
