2025 Member-at-Large - Asia and Pacific Region Candidate

Position Statement

I will strive to implement the following: 

  1. A membership loyalty discount program based on the years of your membership. For example, with 20 years of membership, you may get 20% discount in ComSoc membership fee.
  2. A Graduate Student Activity Committee (GSAC) to create specialized and focused program for ComSoc Graduate Students.
  3. A special travel grant where 5% of surplus amount of the ComSoc conferences such as IEEE Globecom will be utilized for travel grant for the subsequent years of the same conference.  That is 5% of Surplus of Globecom-2025 will be retained for travel support for Globecom-2026.
  4. Create a new travel scheme for Graduate students, ComSoc SBC leaders, and ComSoc Chapter Leaders.
  5. A special grant for WICE members for travel in international conferences of ComSoc with specific allocation for WICE from low income countries.
  6. New programs for ComSoc STEM outreach.

Biography

Prof. Manoj BS is an active IEEE volunteer for 25 years. He currently serves as a Board Member of the IEEE ComSoc Membership-Services Board and the Chair of IEEE Kerala Section. 

He served IEEE ComSoc Kerala as Vice chair (2012) and Chair (2013-14). 

He works as Professor and Associate Dean at the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), Trivandrum, India. He earned his PhD from IIT Madras in 2004 and was a Postdoctoral Scholar and Research Scientist at University of California San Diego, CA, USA (2005–2008). 

Prof. Manoj has received numerous accolades, including the IEEE Outstanding Researcher 2020 and the Teaching Innovator Award 2016 for his Multi-Track Modular Teaching (MT2) method. With over 200 international publications, three textbooks, and ten book chapters, his work was cited over 7,200 citations (h-index: 33, i-10 index: 86).

His research focuses on 6G Networks, 6G-satellite integration, and wireless mesh networks.
